Gerry O’Kane is a published lyricist and a much recorded musician, originally from
Belfast. He came to Canada in the 1970’s and made his home in Kingston while he
and his band, Rakish Paddy, had loyal followers from Newfoundland to British
Columbia, Baffin Island to Florida. They disbanded in the ‘80’s and Gerry
continued playing solo with a devoted following wherever he played. For twelve
years Gerry played at the Wellington in Kingston, Ontario to a packed house
every Friday and Saturday. Gerry went back to County Down in 2002 to pursue
his other love, visual arts. In 2012, he broke his silence and released an album of
his own material "Days Like These" and an album of recordings from the “Gerry
Nights” at the Wellington "The Nostalgia Tapes". Both may be purchased via The
Store. He returned to Canada in November 2013 for the first time since 2002 and
played a number of sold out shows in both Toronto and Kingston. Since then,
Gerry has made numerous trips to Canada playing in Toronto, Kingston, Ottawa
and Arnprior. He has since recorded a CD of some of his favourite traditional
songs called "SongStories" also available through The Store.

In late January Gerry suffered a stroke. He is getting excellent care and his family are at his side. While
Gerry works hard at his recovery his family asks that you respect his privacy. Of course, your support
also means a lot to Gerry. If you would like to send him your well wishes please send a message to
<[email protected]>. Gerry deeply regrets missing his gigs and misses all his friends in Canada.
